Getting started

Do I need an account?

No. Rotunda has no accounts, no passwords and no email sign-up. Enter a ZIP code and you’re set up. That’s the entire onboarding.

Why does it want my ZIP code?

Your ZIP determines which congressional district, state legislature and local government are actually yours. Without it, Rotunda can only show you national news — which is the thing every other app already does. Your ZIP stays on your device; see the privacy policy for exactly what happens to it.

Can I change my name, ZIP or interests later?

Yes. Open the Profile tab and edit any of them. You can also re-run the full onboarding from there if you’d rather start clean.

Representatives

One of my representatives is wrong or missing.

Some ZIP codes span more than one congressional or legislative district, and officeholder data occasionally lags a special election or a redistricting. Email us the ZIP code and what you expected to see and we’ll trace it.

Why do I see federal and state officials but no local ones?

Local coverage is being added jurisdiction by jurisdiction. City and county records are not published in one national format the way congressional data is — each has to be connected individually. If your area isn’t covered yet, it’s on the list rather than ruled out.

Stories and accuracy

Where does the information come from?

From the government record — Congress.gov and GovInfo for federal bills, OpenStates for state legislatures, and official sources for local government. Every story links to its sources, and you can open them.

Is this written by AI?

The explanations are. The facts are not. Language models rewrite official text into plain language, and that is the only thing they are permitted to touch. Bill status, sponsors, vote records, officeholders and deadlines are copied from the government record — a model is never asked to supply them. When we don’t have a fact, the app says so rather than filling the gap.

I found something that’s wrong.

Corrections are the most useful thing anyone sends us, and factual ones are treated as urgent. Send the story headline and what’s incorrect to info@rotundaapp.com.

Why does my ballot look incomplete?

Because it probably is, and we’d rather tell you. Rotunda only shows ballot contests it can confirm from an authoritative source. Where we can’t confirm something, you get a stated gap instead of a guess — an incomplete ballot you know is incomplete is far safer than a confident one that’s missing a race.

Privacy and data

How do I delete my data?

Delete the app. Everything personal lives on your device, so removing the app removes all of it. There is no server-side copy to request the deletion of.

Do you track me?

No. There is no analytics, crash-reporting or advertising software in the app at all. The full detail is on the privacy page.

Still stuck?

Email info@rotundaapp.com. Including your device model, iOS version and — if it’s a data question — your ZIP code will usually get you a faster answer.
